MY FIRST SHOt
I took these photos last 2008, few months before we graduate as a requirement for an Exhibit Project. That time, I was using an old camera with a film. Luckily, I won the exhibit and was exempted from the Finals. At that point, I realized that I am interested in photography. I always look for something with human interest and tried to capture them.

Arts is the first thing that I learned and appreciate during childhood. I love drawing, painting and lettering. That led me to be interested with Fine Arts and Architecture. However, when I graduated from High School, I can't find a University that offers those programs within the city. They were being offered outside and I have to travel 3hrs to get there. From then, I decided to take Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication. I actually have no idea that time why I did enroll in that Program. All I knew was I have a background in news and editorial writing and I can use those in my course.
It wasn't easy as a MassComm student. Lots of creative thinking in the element of production. Those activities honed my skills in every aspect of communication arts. Over the years, I realized that I have this passion in film and photography. I've always aspire to be a Director, that's why I gave myself a screen name "Direk Jen". I wrote it down in my graduation photo to remind myself that it's my dream and if someday I traveled a different path, it will lead me back. And that's exactly what happened. I may not be in the television production right now but I am in my own production.
When I moved to Canada last 2012, I promised myself that I will do my best to rekindle that passion. I began taking pictures using the camera of my cellphone. I'm very fond of landscapes and still images. However, I've been discouraged many times if I'll still pursue my goals. But my desire to learn and develop is bigger than my fear of failing. So I started teaching my self the basics of photography and from then on, I was able to bring my passion into a different level. I opened my photography business last March 2017 and since then, I didn't stop learning. If there is an opportunity to discover and acquire new skills, I'M IN.
Many times, I failed my passion. I get uninspired, disconnected and lost. But as long as you love what you're doing, you will never be departed.

MY JOURNEY
Before I met Photography, I've been friends with Short Films. I love writing stories and conceptualizing the storyline. Our first film was "Paghilom" (Healing) and was an entry in the Inter-University Film Festival. We didn't expect that we will win Best Picture and Best Actress during that time.
My passion didn't stop there. Fortunately, we got accepted at ABS-CBN for our practicum and was able to work with the National TV Network. It was a great opportunity as I was able to work with their talents, crew, writers and their finest Film and TV Directors.
